For the new Southeastern headquarters the United Stationers, Wakefield Beasley set out to create an 800,000-sf distribution center with 55,000-sf of connected office space on a unique site. Separated from the employee parking area by a pedestrian bridge over a scenic creek, the facility meets all of the company’s operational needs in one facility with a continuous roofing system that optimizes thermal and economical efficiencies. The required height clearance of the warehouse enabled the design of a two-level office space with reception area, meeting rooms and customized office space. Despite site constraints, the firm was able to deliver a conventional steel facility that supports the company’s administrative and industrial operations in one functional and cost-effective final product.
