Mercedes Benz Parts Consolidation Center

Vance, Alabama

Mercedes-Benz had a tight construction deadline for its new one million square foot parts distribution and office facility expansion in Vance, Alabama. So the company hired Wakefield Beasley to design a consolidated facility that would connect to the existing manufacturing center and provide much-needed office space – all within 12 months. Wakefield Beasley mobilized quickly to design the new structure and specify a durable building envelope that would match the existing facility’s façade. Precast panels selected to hasten the schedule were covered in metal panels to match the existing buildings on campus. The firm worked closely with the contractor to mobilize construction while final design elements were completed, including the addition of a connector building to provide a covered walkway from the existing manufacturing facility to the new distribution and office space. The end result was completed ahead of schedule to support the Mercedes-Benz production and distribution goals in the southeast.
