When Davidson County decided to consolidate multiple downtown departments in an updated, streamlined space, Wakefield Beasley was contracted to deliver the design solution. The team applied its vast experience planning, programming and designing combined courts and jail facilities to propose the best option. The firm worked closely with all stakeholders to replace two existing structures and effectively program the centralized space on a challenging, urban site. The new facility has an innovative non-secure mental health treatment center attached to the intake unit. Wakefield Beasley’s design ties in an existing bridge to the courthouse while also using prefabricated cells and a direct-supervision management model.
