Kumho Tire’s vision for its new distribution center was more aesthetically-advanced than typical industrial facilities. The company envisioned a functional space that reinforced its brand and emulated its new forward-moving logo. By incorporating sweeping lines across the exterior, Wakefield Beasley was able to bring Kumho Tire’s brand to life, while meeting the functional requirements of the distribution center. The iconic entry corner entrance is crowned by two 103,000-pound concrete panels that meet in a V-shape and stand in unique opposition to reflective blue glass. Already a landmark design in McDonough, the steel-frame facility includes 410,000-sf of industrial space, 4,000-sf of office space and 40 dock doors with a 32-foot clear height. The facility won the Tilt-Up Concrete Association’s (TCS) Tilt-Up Achievement Award in the Warehouse/Distribution Division in 2008.
